My wife's sister and nieces came down to visit this weekend. The younger niece managed to set our TV into such a state that we could not turn it on. She did this only with the remote control. After pressing almost every button I pulled the TV out and unplugged it. And bam its back up and running. But this victory is short lived because once the picture on the screen came into focus, what did we fine but a message from our dish satellite receiver. It was at first the typical you unplugged me and now i have to find the satellite messed except it didn't make any progress. So i have the wife call Dish so i can go back to less stressful things like playing Civilization 4 with my cousin. 20 minutes later my wife on the phone is telling me I don't have the system hooked up right some thing is loose. I check noting, now dish will send some one out on Tuesday brilliant. Now I would like some TV so i grab an old standard receiver and plug it in. Dish lady says it will take half an hour for its software to upgrade and it will work until the tech comes out. An hour later my wife is out to dinner with her parents and sister and i go try the receiver. I was greeted with a switch error message and when i turn the channel i see I get nothing but some audio stations and NASA. Its almost as bad as noting maybe slightly worse. Now i am mad. I unplug the fancy DVR dual turner from the wall wait thirty seconds plug it back in and hook the coaxial again. Now the TV has an error message about the switch and about using the other receiver( smart little bugger) So i run a system test. It runs all the way through reporting goodness. Tune it to a TV station and it down loads the guide(takes forever and has a horrible progress bar) and now every thing is working. Why the tech didn't ask my wife to unplug it? I really would like to bill dish 50(what the on site service visit will cost.) bucks for my troubles.
